Last year, Equality Florida launched its Transgender Inclusion Initiative with three broad objectives: To educate Florida's major employers on effective transgender inclusion protocol, to advocate for the advancement of the transgender community in a broader and more structured way, and to be an integral part of all public policy that involves transgender rights and protections. To achieve these goals, we formed TransAction Florida, which consists of transgender advocates and community leaders from all parts of our state. As we move into our second year, we have increased the number of Advisory Board Members to increase our scope and influence. Our goal is to ensure that transgender inclusion is woven into everything we do at Equality Florida.

We are so pleased to announce our TransAction Florida Advisory Board for 2015-2016!

While the transgender community has never been more visible, vocal and engaged, a great deal of work remains to be done. The transgender community remains one of our most vulnerable communities, still subject to marginalization, alarming rates of harassment, discrimination, violence and murder. All hardworking Floridians, including transgender people, should have the chance to earn a living, provide for their families, and be able to live a life of peaceful authenticity.

Equality Florida is the state’s largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Through advocacy, grassroots organizing, education and coalition building, we are changing Florida so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. TransAction Florida will be working to ensure that transgender Floridians will enjoy the same rights and protections as all Floridians.

Onward TransEquality!
