In addition to the great news from Gainesville, last night was the special election to replace retiring Congressman Robert Wexler. Former state senator, Ted Deutch, won handily with 62% of the vote.

As a state senator, Deutch sponsored legislation that would prohibit discrimination in employment and housing based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the state of Florida. He was also has been a supporter of repealing Florida's ban on gay and lesbian adoption.
Equality Florida congratulates Deutch on his victory and look forward to working with him to pass ENDA and repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
