TALLAHASSEE- Florida’s ban on adoption by same sex couples stood for 33 years before the 3rd District Court of Appeal overturned it as unconstitutional four years ago.
Pushing for a decision that would topple Florida’s gay-marriage ban in all 67 counties, lawyers for two Monroe County men who won the right to marry asked an appeals court on Monday to move the case directly to the state’s Supreme Court.
On Thursday, April 3, the community celebrated the City of Miami Beach for achieving a perfect score of 100 points on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index (MEI), making it the highest-ranking city in the State of Florida, and the second in the country. In total, 293 cities nationwide, including 15 big cities in Florida, were evaluated for the index.
