Orlando Tops List of Pro-Equality Cities in Florida.
New National Report Ranks LGBT Legal Protections.

WASHINGTON-- Orlando, Miami and Tampa are ranked as the top three cities for protecting the rights of gay and transgender Floridians while Jacksonville comes in a distant last, according to a new national report card issued this week. 

Tampa Bay leaders champion “Equality Means Business” event to improve Florida’s competitiveness on Nov 29th.

-- Thursday, November 29th, Equality Florida has partnered with Tech Data and Florida Blue to host an “Equality Means Business” Luncheon at 11:30am at the Tech Data Headquarters in Clearwater. A panel of business and diversity experts will be featured. With over 100 attendees, the event has gotten an overwhelming response and has reached maximum capacity.

After Nine Years, A Step Toward Justice

Last month, State Attorney Mark Ober sought and received a grand jury indictment for two counts of first–degree murder against Scott Schweikert in the 2003 killings of two young gay Tampa Bay men, Jason Galehouse and Michael Wachholtz.

Robert V. Taylor, Openly Gay Former Episcopal Dean, to Speak in Tampa, Nov. 1 at 7PM

Nationally-recognized author, speaker, and openly gay Episcopal priest Robert V. Taylor will speak Thursday, November 1st at 7:00 PM on Faith and the LGBT Community at the USF Marshall Student Center’s Oval Theater.

Taylor’s newly released book, A New Way to be Human, offers a path to an integrated life of purposeand has been highly acclaimed by such notables as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Deepak Chopra, Bernie Siegel, MD and others.

By now we all know that every one of our votes is going to matter next Tuesday.  But do you have the information to make sure you get to vote?  Regular Equality Florida volunteer, Terry Lowman provided the ACLU website, Know Your Rights as a great guide for information on polling places, required ID, your voter registration status, early voting etc.
