Volunteer for the MLK Parade

Equality Florida  and the Jacksonville Coalition for Equality will be marching in The MLK Parde on January 19th!

2015 has already been a successful year for Florida's LGBT community. With a lot of hard work and dedication we finally won marriage equality! Though we are extremely happy about working with our community to get this victory there is still work to be done in order to pass an all-inclusive human rights ordinance in Jacksonville and take that next step in achieving equality for all.

Is Jacksonville ready for a broadened Human Rights Ordinance?

A long-standing controversy about whether Jacksonville should alter its non-discrimination laws to include sexualorientation and gender is bound to be a contentious subject in this spring’s mayoral and City Council elections.

In 2012, the Jacksonville City Council voted against adding “sexual orientation, gender identity or expression” to the list of protected classes.The issue is expected to come up again in the City Council within the next year.
