Happening Now: Senate Hearing on ENDA
Right now the United States Senate is holding a hearing on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
The Senate HELP Committee is hearing about employment discrimination from LGBT Americans and will then also take up ENDA. Watch the hearing here.
Chairman Harkin, whose home state Iowa has a state law protecting LGBT people from discrimination, announced 90 corporations sent a letter to the committee supporting the bill.
Witnesses in today's hearing include: M. V. Lee Badgett, Research Director, Williams Institute for Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy, University of California at Los Angeles; Samuel Bagenstos, Professor of Law, University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, Michigan; Ken Charles, vice president of Diversity and Inclusion, General Mills Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Craig Parshal, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, National Religious Broadcasters Association, Manassas, Virginia.
