Talking With Ted: Simmie Williams

TRANSGENDER TEEN'S KILLER OUT THERE!

Posted by tscouten

A year ago Sunday, 17 year old Simmie Williams was gunned down on the corner of NW 10th and Sistrunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.  Simmie was a boy who dressed as a girl and went by the name Beyonce.  That's an important fact because some wonder if that's why witnesses are not coming forward to tell police what they know about the murder and who committed it.

It was so sad to talk to his mother, Denise King.  She's a woman who loved her child and wants the killer or killers brought to justice.  She told me Simmie wanted to be a chef, that he would constantly watch the food network and then try to make the dish at home. She also said he had big plans.  "I’m gonna take you from here," Denise said Simmie would tell her,  "We’re going to move to California, cuz that’s where I want to have my restaurant."

Now, Denise just hopes that people will think of her son, not as the boy in girl's clothes, but simply as a human being.  "Regardless of what he wanted to be or how he dressed," Denise said,  "he was a human being and he was somebody’s child, he was my child."  Strong words from a heartbroken mother.

There's going to be a rally this Sunday at 7pm at the corner of NW 10th Ave and Sistrunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.  The hope is that it will convince someone to come forward with information.  If not, this case may never be solved.
