Pres Obama Includes Gay Parents in Adoption Proclamation

President Obama has included gay parents in a proclamation recognizing November as national adoption month.

The decision to adopt a child has brought profound joy and meaning into the lives of Americans across our country.  Parents are moved to adopt for reasons as unique and varied as the children they embrace, but they are unified by the remarkable grace of their acts.  Adoptive families come in all forms.
With so many children waiting for loving homes, it is important to ensure that all qualified caregivers are given the opportunity to serve as adoptive parents, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or marital status.

The president has made a point of including gay parents in his Mother's Day and Father's Day comments and weighed in on efforts to end Florida's anti-gay adoption ban as well. In 2008 during the first LGBT Pride event at the White House, the president accepted a note with pictures of two little boys at the center of a legal battle and promised to follow up.
He continues to keep his word.
