Volunteer at Come out with Pride 2014!
At the beginning of 2014, we filed a lawsuit with NCLR in Miami-Dade county for the freedom to marry! Since then, we’ve heard five consecutive rulings favoring marriage equality in the sunshine state! Although we’ve come so far, we have so much more work to do in this critical struggle to end anti-discrimination in Florida.
We need YOUR help to stand up for equality in Orlando. Recently, the Orlando City Council added transgender people to the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance! In a unanimous vote, the city council voted that people cannot be discriminated against based on gender identity or gender expression in the areas of employment, public accommodations and housing in the City of Orlando. In order to ensure more victories like this in the future, we have to help elect pro-equality and fair minded people.
Come out with Pride is an incredible opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our strength, our accomplishments and our pride. It's also our best chance to build the grassroots excitement across the state and to make sure we elect fair minded, pro-LGBT candidates who can help us pass anti-discrimination bills.
Please join Equality Florida members at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando as we celebrate Come out with Pride!
We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers who care about equality and who are willing to share their enthusiasm with others. Volunteer shifts typically last three hours and involve engaging passersby, sharing our stories and spreading the word about the work that lies ahead.
See you at pride!
