Gina Duncan honors India:
I wanted to send you a quick note and say how much your work as the Transgender Inclusion Director is truly far reaching and amazing.
I had dinner last night with a friend who works as a leader at the Walt Disney World Company. She attended your workshop over a year ago. One of her cast members came out to her as trans and she honestly didn't know what to do or say other than, "I love you and I'm here for you every step of this journey". She always felt comfortable with the LGB community but didn't know anything about the trans community. She said she would fumble over pronouns and she said she felt lost at where to start first.
She attended your workshop and was thoroughly enlightened. She also invited her ultra conservative republican co-worker who was intrigued by the subject especially after someone in her department expressed the want and need to transition. After the workshop, the conservative co-worker not only should empathy for the trans community, she wanted to implement everything you spoke about immediately. Both ladies left the workshop with enough information to successfully help their cast members transition and assist HR. Now, there are specific protocols in place and more employees are coming forth as their true and authentic selves. There are welcomed with open arms to go ahead and transition in the workplace comfortably.
I've heard about your other extremely positive impacts around the state from other friends and each person I've spoken to have nothing but amazing things to say about you. Your anecdotes about your life humanizes the sometimes misunderstood subject, and gives light to people all over the state who might otherwise not fully understand it.
