Join Equality Florida at Stonewall Summer Pride!

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers who care about equality and who are willing to share their enthusiasm with others. Volunteer shifts typically last three hours, and involve engaging passers-by, signing up new members, and spreading the word about Equality Florida's work.

Lauderdale, FL) --An educator inspired to action by the suicide of a student and a fearless advocate who once requested a meeting with his congressman by convincing a flight attendant to slip him a note will be honored on November 13 at the Equality Florida Broward Gala.  Teri Williams and Michael Rajner will each receive the Voice for Equality Award for their tireless work on behalf of Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community during Equality Florida’s 2011 Broward Gala at the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art.

This years Annual Broward Gala featured an overwhelming crowd which included community leaders, political hopefuls, and dozens of key elected officials gathered together and helped raise a record breaking $260,000 plus for LGBT rights. The event took place Nov. 13, at the Museum Of Art in Ft Lauderdale.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Broward County Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve Florida’s first countywide Equal Benefits Ordinance (EBO), a measure that requires the county’s vendors to provide domestic partners with benefits equal to those offered to spouses of married employees.

In enacting the ordinance, Broward County adopts one of the nation’s most significant policies furthering workplace equality.

Equality Florida Institute, the non-profit arm of state-wide Equality Florida, will hold its ninth annual Broward County “Voice for Equality” awards gala honoring two local heroes on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art at 1 Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale.
