As a gay white man it saddens me that someone would take the life of someone who just wants to live his or her life no matter what they choose. This hate in the world that has reached us in our own neighborhoods has to be stopped. I'm am so sorry for your loss and I really hope that catch the creep who did this horrible act and they will pay. Life or death will be on their heads. Please remember your loss as one who was brave and free no matter what the opposition was. That life will never be in vain so live on India Clarke and enjoy your new afterlife free of hate. Dear Family of India Clarke,     I was saddened to hear of India's passing. I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but from seeing her picture I know that she is a lovely woman and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.     I'm sorry I'll not make the candlelight vigil Friday night to honor India, but I'm 84 and not in the best of health. I'll be thinking of her, though, and knowing that she is now in a safe and loving place, and that her spirit will guide you, her family, and be with you always.

Having several transgender persons in our church, a committee providing resources for interested worshipers, and a recent workshop of transgender persons, the church is seeking to inform people about transgender people.  In this light, I am but familiar with some of the hatred, rejection, abuse and other exclusions of transgender people.   In the name of the God of Jesus Christ, I offer my prayers to you, the circle of the larger family and friends, that in the pain of loss, you will find peace and hope.

I want to express my deepest condolences for the loss of India.  Trans* people should not have to fear death and India should be home with her loved ones.  As a transwoman, I feel the loss just a little more.  My heart aches for you. 

I was just in Tampa and being a transgender man of color living in Florida I know all too well how dangerous it is for us out here. Its many different facets that make being who we are, living our truth, a potentially fatal thing, but that doesn't give anyone the right to take a life. To make us afraid. To tell us that we are less than. Or that we don't deserve to live that truth. I mourn with you in this time of grief and sorrow and hope that you know that there is a community of people who stand with you in love and in support of India, her decision to live her truth, and in your time of mourning and we will not rest until justice is served.

To the family and loved ones of India Clarke. I am a transgender woman who lives in St. Petersburg, FL. Even though I never had the opportunity to meet India, her murder strikes a chord of pain in my heart. Although I have lost an adult child to death, I have never had the trauma of knowing that my child was brutally murdered.   India and I are sisters; sisters of the heart and spirit. Her life should be remembered as one filled with love and acceptance by those closest to her, and with kind words from so many who never got to know her.  It so saddens me that we live in a world where one's life may be valued only by the color of skin or the chosen lifestyle. All life matters and I pray for the day when all people will see all other people as valuable and worthy of love and respect.  My deepest sympathies for your tragic loss,
