EQUALITY FLORIDA AND NCLR ISSUE MEMORANDUM TO FLORIDA CLERKS RE ISSUING MARRIAGE LICENSES ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2015

(December 24, 2014) National center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) and Equality Florida sent a six-page Memo to the Court Clerks of Florida's 67 counties.

Much has already been written about what happened Wednesday in Miami at the first hearing on marriage equality in Florida: the brilliance of our legal team's arguments challenging Florida's discriminatory ban on marriage for same-sex couples, the poise and dignity of our wonderful plaintiff couples, the energy and enthusiasm of the supporters who cheered and chanted for hours outside the courthouse, the lame and sometimes ridiculous defense of the ban, the preparedness of our judge.

VICTORY: Gulfport Becomes 1st Pinellas City to pass Domestic Partnership Registry

By a 5-0 vote, the Gulfport City Council became the first city in Pinellas County to adopt a Domestic Partnership Registry.

A capcity crowd overflowed into the lobby to watch the proceedings on televison. Speaker after speaker called on Gulfport to continue its tradition of supporting equality for LGBT residents. 

The mayor agreed to hold a public signing tomorrow Wednesday May 16th at 9AM at city council chambers.
