This afternoon the Florida Senate will discuss a bill that would make sweeping changes to election law in Florida.
SB 2086 has been called the "Voter Suppression Act". If passed, this dangerous bill would make it harder for voters to cast their ballot and make it harder for your vote to be counted. The bill would also make it harder for groups like Equality Florida to register new voters.
The bill would also:
  • Make it harder for voters, particularly students who move frequently, to update their address and force many to vote by provisional ballot;
  • Shorten early voting;
  • Make it harder to register new voters by imposing a 48 hour window to turn in voter forms, making it difficult for groups doing voting registration drives.
SEND A NOTE
Click here and send a personal note to your state senator NOW. The Voter Suppression Act has already passed the Florida House and will be debated in the Senate TODAY. Final vote on the bill is expected tomorrow. E-mail your Senator and Senate President Mike Haridopolos now and tell them not to pass this anti-voter bill.
