Candidate Spotlight: Jim Jackson

Today marks the start of early vote for the 2010 general election. We are celebrating by another installment of our Candidate Spotlight series, today spotlighting Jim Jackson.

Jim Jackson is running for the Pinellas County School Board, District 7. A long time community organizer active in LGBT and Democratic groups, Jim is running to become the first gay school board member in Pinellas.
Jim envisions creating world class schools in Pinellas, a vision that specifically includes creating a safe environment in which to learn, an environment free from bullying, harassment and violence. With the tragic losses of LGBT youth from all around the country due to anti-LGBT harassment, electing openly gay role models has never been more important.
If elected, Jim will work with Terry Krassner and Linda Lerner, both pro-equality school board members, to continue the Pinellas legacy of ensuring a learning environment free from harassment.
